hello,
guys if i am currently using windows 8 will i be prompted to ''upgrade" or "update" to windows 10
and will i lose any of my files.and how will it process , is it just like a boot usb installation or just a restart ?
i am asking this because i am using an oem pc wich is pretty risky on the bios side , so i dont like getting into those stuff alot , it had came with a major gpu problem which took me 40hours of hard googling and reinserting gpu until i cut my hand.

cheers

Solution
Of course you can't be forced into upgrading to Windows 10. And you won't lose your data, just choose upgrade in the installation process when it asks to, which means it'll not wipe any data or apps.

Upgrading to Windows 10 is strictly 100% opt-in. It will not do it on its own.
It may suggest, but you do not have to do it.

I suggest waiting a few weeks after release, just to see if any issues crop up.
Let other people be the test subjects.

Like me....:)

I plan on updating a secondary laptop on or about day one, just to see how it goes. If it dies, no problem, because there is zero critical data on that laptop.
