is there anyway I can upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate from Windows Vista Home Premium without losing all my files? (I have a lot of licensed software on hard drive that I don't want to lose)

Solution
Home Premium will have less background stuff running.
Ultimate's extra features, if used, will likely get you less gaming performance.

It won't be as much as 5 FPS improvement in all games and hardware combos.
Probably less in most.
Hello TroungPham93;

You can do an in-place-upgrade from Windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32bit version.
Or Vista 64bit to Windows 7 64bit.

What feature of Win7 Ultimate do you need that isn't in Win7 Home Premium?
You don't want to pay for features you don't really need.

I'm not sure what the features are but my reason for upgrading is for gaming. I remember reading a article somewhere that said there's a 5 fps increase in gaming when you upgrade to Win7 from Vista.
