Upgrading Windows 7 to 10 and Spanned parititions on secondary drives.

Hello all,

I have multiple drives in my system and need advice on the following scenario.

For simplicity this is what's going on (these are all physical drives):

Drive A: Primary/Active, Windows 7 boot drive.

Drive B and Drive C are spanned together and are only data drives.

My intention is to remove drive A (old SSD) and replace it with drive D (new, much larger SSD) and install windows 10 on drive D as the new boot drive.

My question is, will the spanned volume of B and C be recognized in Windows 10? (I doubt automatically).

Will I be able to re-span the drives in disk management in Windows 10 and all of my data will still be there as before?

OR should I get a giant external drive, transfer all of my data (as insurance) and just re-format everything once 10 is installed and re-setup and re-add the span?

Thank you kindly for your advice!
