I know these types of questions get asked all the time but I’ve recently finally got a job which means I now have some money to upgrade my PC. Right now I have:
CPU- amd fx 4300
gpu- gtx 1050
motherboard- gigabyte ga-78LMT-S2

i’m mainly looking to upgrade my cpu right now with a budget of $200 at the most preferably around $130-175. I think that the type of motherboard I have will only take am3+ cpu which i’ve heard is not very good anymore. Should I just replace the motherboard and cpu completely? But then I’m worried if I change the mobo i would need to buy new ram which would put me out of a lot of money all together. Any suggestions?

PS- i don’t know a lot about PCs or components sorry 😬

I know, I know the CPU is not much of an upgrade, but it is an upgrade and its cheap enough to allow for more RAM. The motherboard can easily accept a myriad of processors later.
this will get you on a modern platform with an upgrade path.
you made no mention of the PSU...

you made no mention of the PSU you have but this uses less power than your current rig.
