Upgraing from SLI 970s and i5 4690k to GTX 1080 and ? What CPU and mobo should i pick?

So I've been trying to convince my friend to build a PC, and I finally did if I sell him my SLI 970s, i5 4690k, 16gb of ram and asus Z-97a for $700. With this money (and more) I'm going to upgrade my rig. I'm going to buy a GTX 1080, but I'm still unsure of which CPU to get. I have a 1440p 144hz monitor that I use for gaming, and a 1080p 60hz monitor I use for watching videos or browsing the web in between matches. I know that most games can only make use of 4 cores, but will a 6 core cpu like a 6800k make a difference in a two monitor set up? I want to future proof my rig, and ddr3 is on the way out, so obviously I need a cpu and mobo that uses ddr4. What do you guy suggest?

Thanks for the help guys... I bought the 6800k and couldn't be happier. I get nearly max framerate in every game, and rarely ever see it dip below 100 fps.
