Hello community. As you know Christmas is coming and I would like to upgrate my system. But i don't have much money. I would like to know if it will be worth upgrating my procesor, or buying a new mobo and cpu. The thing is I want to get the most out of my current system before building a new one.

My specs:
Intel Core i3 540 3.06GHz
AMD Radeon HD 7770
120GB SSD
JW p55t-extreme

Sorry for long post.

Yes for sure. You'll get better performance along with that HD 7700 rgoufg I'm not ssure about the motherboard. It also depends what you want. What you have (with the exception of the proccessor maybe) will probably get you 30-40 FPS? on most of todays current games, again with the exception of a few. It would aloss be nice to know how much RAM you have

Thanks for taking the time to help. I already bought a brand new monitor this summer. And I don't have anything else to upgrade except my CPU.

Thanks for helping me. I thought i posted my RAM. Oh well, I have 3 sticks of 2GB 1333MHz RAM and i have one more free slot. Do you thing that I should try and get an i7 or will an i5 be enough. Remember these are 1st gen and they are from 2010.

You would get better performance by just using two sticks as long as you are not running out of RAM. Three sticks or mix-matched sticks will cause you not to run in dual channel. If 4 GB's isn't enough, consider selling what you have and getting an 8 GB kit. Upgrading your CPU won't help you much gaming wise, because I don't think it is bottlenecking your GPU. If you upgrade the GPU, you would have to upgrade the CPU, motherboard and possibly the PSU as well. If you are having problems with multitasking or editing, then a CPU upgrade would make more sense.

I tried using only two of my ram sticks and it didn't made a difference, so RAM is not a problem. I think that the CPU is very weak since all new games are using QUAD core CPUs like the i5 etc. And this way I could keep the system for longer and possibly upgrate my GPU next year, since any stronger GPU that this will be bottlnecked by my CPU.
