Question Upload speed problem when connected to WiFi with my mobile phone ?

Hello, I have a XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 8 PRO mobile phone, the MIUI VERSION is 12.5.6 When i am connected to my home WIFI network, there is a problem with the upload speed. Normally I get 5 Mbps when uploading files through the pc, also I have an old Iphone which is also getting that speed. However when i upload something from the Xiaomi device, i get a very low speed which limits my ability to upload files, like 0.1 Mbps. I tried reconnecting to the WIFI network, and resetting the WIFI settings but the speed is still the same. Anyone knows what can possible cause this? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

By your "home network" do you mean an ISP, modem, router (or modem/router) with various devices connected?

E.g., computers, laptops, printers, NAS, Smart TV's, etc.? Wired and wireless.

As I understand your post you are using the XIAOMI REDMI as a hot spot - is that correct?

How is everything being connected? Wired and wireless devices?

My thought is an IP address conflict or some network mis-configuration.

More information needed.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have a router which my internet company provided to me and a lot of devices are connected to it by 3 switches, mostly by ethernet cables
but I also have other devices connected by WIFI. The devices include computers, smart tv's, android boxes, and a modem is also connected to the router which is used to
connect a phone. I am not using the XIAOMI as a hot spot, I only use it regularly as a mobile device, which is connected to the internet through wifi to the main router.
All the other devices are working properly, it's just this particular mobile device which is causing problems, and just with the upload speed, the download speed is ok.
If it was an IP address conflict shouldn't it also prevent me from downloading? maybe it's something with the phone's settings, because I have another Iphone which is
getting the full upload speed the ISP provides?

Does the phone have the ability to connect to both 2.4 and 5 radios on your router. Maybe one works better than the other.

This almost sounds like your router is having trouble hearing the signal from the phone. I guess you could try it very close to the router and see if it is any different.

Unfortunately the router only has a 2.4 radios band. I tried putting it very close to the router, the result is only 0.05 Mbps instead of 5.

Update: I tried on other phones and all other phones are uploading normally through WIFI, except mine and my brother's phone (he has the exact same model (XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 8 PRO) and he has the same problem. Does that mean that it is an issue with the phone's firmware/hardware? is there something else i can try? The issue is hampering my ability to work from home. thanks!

Maybe try to change the wifi channel on the router and see if that makes any difference.

Maybe consider a cheap router that has a 5g radio. You can get a 802.11ac 1200 router for about $35 and even less if you buy it used.

You would not have to replace the ISP router you would just connect it as a AP. In effect replacing just the wifi radios.
