Hey everyone,

I've been running into this issue lately where on occasion, my PC won't boot properly. It takes about 7 or 8 restarts for the PC to boot properly. I want to say that the PC POSTs properly, but I can't really tell.

I'll run it down for you - I'm writing from the pc that is being finicky right now, so I know that the components do work.

  • Start the PC.
Fans speed up (classic POST?) and there is no signal to pc, keyboard, or mouse.
Fans speed down, then nothing happens.
Rinse and repeat until the computer boots.

Things I've tried to do:

  • Reset BIOS to default.
Change RAM sticks/change amount of ram being used.
Bought a new PSU (issue still occurs)
Tried removing all of the USBs to check if they were causing it.
Checked jumper for front I/O panel on PC (all grounded properly)

That's it. I'm assuming you guys want a parts list, so here it is.

  • ASROCK 990FX Killer AM3+
    AMD-FX8350 Vishera Black (4.0Ghz)
    16GB DDR3 1888MHz Corsair Vengance
    750w Modular Cosair Gold PSU
    Cosair H-100i Closed Loop
    Corsair 750D Full Size
    GTX GeForce 970 Superclocked
    2 Samsung 840EVO
    1 Seagate 1TB

If I'm missing anything, let me know.

Solution
try to plug in that motherboard slot another fan to see if system still boot then try this one on another connector and if system do not boot the fan is short you need a new one .

Thanks for the advice, scout_03. But unfortunately, this did not correct anything. I have found a temporary solution, which was to unplug all front i/o panel jumpers and only leave the power jumper. This appears to have corrected the issue, but I'm not sure in the slightest as to why.

I'm assuming I may have had the jumpers backwards/not grounded properly, but I had double/triple checked to make sure they were.

It continued to happen after the fact. I unplugged the front chassis fan and it started booting fine.

This is the best answer, BTW.
