[SOLVED] upon restart, cannot click on audio/volume icon

upon restart, cannot click on audio/volume icon (nothing happens when you click)

this is temporarily fixed by restarting 'windows explorer'

how to permanently fix?

happens on a new laptop, happened on old computer also (i hate computers, it's 2020..)

when you restart the pc does the volume icon show up in the little caret menu? (the little button on the bottom where the volume usually is. it looks like this ^)

another solution if this is a really big deal for you is reinstalling windows. You would want to back up files before doing this, though.
