Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my system slightly. Just needed some advice of what to upgrade first and to what product.

My current specs:
Cpu: AMD FX-6300-3.3ghz
M.b: Asrock 990FX
Ram: Ripjaws 8gb-DDR3-1600
Gpu: R7-260X 2GB XFX
Psu: CX500
Ssd: OCZ 128gb
Case: Spec-01

I'm not running any additional cooling, just the fans that's came with. I mainly play Dota 2 but would like to be able to play Mad Max and The Witcher 3 comfortably.

What I think I need to upgrade:
Ram: A second RipJaws 8gb chip.
Hdd: 1tb Western Digital Black 7200rpm.
Gpu: I'm not sure where to go from the R7-260x 2gb.

Thank you.
Mike.

The RAM wiill make almost no difference from 8 GB unless you're doing photoshop or video editing type stuff. The R9 280x is a really good GPU, but it'd be a stretch with your Power supply. Ideally you have a 600w power supply. A 960 is a similar price, but it'll draw half the power, so it'd be safe with your PSU. On the other hand, you can get a new power supply fairly cheaply. So if you want the R9 280x, I'd get a new Corsair 600w power supply. Otherwise you can save a little with a 960, but you'll get slightly less performance.
You didn't mention your budget for the upgrade.

I would not advise going 16GB RAM, it's not going to help in games.

System is already fairly balanced between CPU and GPU, and will play both TW3 and Mad Max. You could of course achieve higher settings with better hardware, but not knowing your budget makes offering suggestions pointless.

Thank you for the reply. Sorry, roughly 250 dollars for the upgrade, whatever that may be. My pc does really weird things sometimes, frame rates drop in dota 2 from 60 to 20 back to 60 down to 10.. Nothing else running. When I checked performance, task manager indicated memory usuage at 92%... I ran memtester and ram is perfect, a simply restart and memory back down to 28% running dota 2 and constant 60 frames per second.

That's why I thought memory was an issue.

I was looking at the R9-280x, is the power supply strong enough to add such a card? What about cooling and overclocking the current system.
