UPS Power Consumption

I have a UPS that's rated at 1500VA/900W. My question is, does it continuously consume 900W regardless of what you're doing? Or does it depend on the power supply load? I mean, if my entire system/power supply is just consuming let's say, 150W at the moment, does my UPS also consume 150W or does it always stay at 900W?

It only consumes what you use. There is no reason for it to be using 900w when your only pulling 150w.

The rating is the maxium ouput power it has during a power outage. That's not the power usage of the UPS.

If your computer is using 150W then that is what is flowing through the UPS plus the UPS will be consuming a small amount to keep its battery topped up .

Definitely UPS will consume only 150 W ie what your system is consuming 900 W is its total limit. UPS will consume only what your system will require not more than that.
