[SOLVED] UPS warm when mains on but UPS off?

I have an APC BX1100C-IN UPS, and it says on the top sticker to "always keep ups input connection to AC mains". But if the UPS is off and I leave the mains switch on, the top of the ups is warm /hot. When I turn off the mains, the fan spins for a few minutes then turns off but the UPS remains cool. Views?

As long as it's plugged into the wall, the batteries charge. Whether the UPS is on or off. Which is why they want you to keep it plugged in.

When you turn your UPS off, it's a lot like when you turn your PC off. It's not really off. It's in "standby".

Ah, so it seems normal. I was just concerned because hot batteries always freak me out. It's just like a phone charging!

Quite a big difference there. The batteries in your UPS are sealed lead acid, like the kind used in a car or motorcycle. They're not Li-Ion.

Ah, I understand now. I meant the heating up thing was similar though! Thanks for the help!
