I have a BenQXL270Z 1440p monitor and some video(especially older movies on Netflix) look pretty bunk on it, as to be expected. Is there any way I can upscale video? I know the AMD Crimson software has some video configurations but I've never touched them(I have an R9 390x).

No, that's not what upscaling means. Upscaling means displaying lower resolution content in full screen. The display has got a scaler and your GPU also acts as one.

Since Netflix doesn't show 2560*1440 content, then it won't look as good because you're further away from your native resolution.

Infact, 1920*1080 content will look better on a 1920*1080 display than a 2560*1440 display.

And then of course the myth about 3840*2160. 1920*1080 content will not and cannot look as good as displaying it in it's native resolution.

Back on topic again, there are 2 ways, but both work only with games. AMD VSR and NVIDIA DSR.

All the best!
