Question Upsides of using an internal network card instead of an integrated network card

Wondering of the advantages and disadvantages of an internal network card rather than using an integrated network card

By integrated, you mean what is on the motherboard?
By internal....a PCIe LAN device?

Given non-crappy devices, zero difference.

To see any benefit from a 10gbe device, you need 10gbe on all items in the chain.

Your PC, the cable, what you connect it to, the other devices in your LAN that you're going to transfer data back and forth.

If it is just your PC and the router...ZERO difference. (except a smaller wallet)

Not sure what you mean by "tearing down".

But it wouldn't consume any more wattage.

a mobo has a lifetime and usage of it will show signs of decay over time. wondered if i use an internal network card would make it use less of the motherboard

Oh. No.

By the time you'd see any "degradation" of the LAN subsystem, the whole motherboard is in need of replacement.
Like...decades.

And if the LAN port goes bad, then you can transfer to a dedicated NIC.
