Hi Toms Hardware

How are you all?

Go easy on me , First post.

Ok , so currently I have Sky copper fibre fitted with a max of 150mbps which is perfect when connected via ethernet but iffy upstairs which I believe is probably down to the poor WiFi stick I used which isn't built into my pc.

Ideally I'd like to get both of my office PC's upstairs connected via Ethernet from a device which in effects connects via WiFi but offers ethernet from that point?

I will be getting Zen full fibre fitted in a few weeks and would like at least half of my 500mbps fibre upstairs consistently

What would you advise to purchase from wherever to solve this ?

As much detail as possible please if you would be so kind

Thanks

If you own the property, contract a low voltage cable specialist to install ethernet cable.

Do you already have coax ?
A wired solution is the best answer.
Your desire to have the last foot wired, is like holding a firehose that is fed by a garden hose. It is as slow as the weakest link.
I'm getting fibre to the premise next month , Does this require cat6a ports upstairs fitted then or more to it?

many thanks for your reply

That is why I recommended contacting a low voltage installer in your area. Nobody can give you an estimate without seeing the amount of work required.

is there anything in particular you could suggest to get the most out my WiFi from upstairs ?

something like this.?

TP-LINK AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.2 PCI Express Adapter with Two Antennas, Intel AX200, PCIe Network Interface Card for Desktop, Low-Profile Bracket Included ( Archer TX3000E) https://amzn.eu/d/6RpKFbr

Something NOT WiFi.

In order, descending:
ethernet
MOCA (pushes the signal through whatever coax lines you already have in the house)
powerline (pushes the signal through the house electrical wiring)
.
.
.
.
WiFi. This should be the very last connection option. Used when there is nothing else possible.

Ok :)

I'm a novice with all this so sorry about this.

In terms of the FTTP terminating at the newly fitted unit , is a new cat6 port required next to this which leads up to the new cat6 port upstairs and a cat6 cable from router to cat6 port?

thanks

Fiber to the house
From that interface device, it goes to a "router".
From that device.....MOCA, powerline, ethernet, to all of your house systems.
