hello,
i recently brought lenovo y50 and as i live in a tropical climate and there were heavy rains some ants entered into my laptop!!
i opened the back cover and removed a few and now i can see some ants underneath the motherboard (below the non removable keyboard and mobo)
So any suggestions
Can i run the laptop at high temps to kill or remove the ants

they are mostly near the power input and ethernet area

Thnks

Don`t turn the laptop on while you have ants inside.

Ants aren’t going to damage your laptop unless they get electrocuted inside, so I would suggest leaving a little sugar outside the laptop near the ant trail, and putting ant poison near other openings of the laptop. Once the ants have left the laptop, put some ant poison near the “main entrance” to kill any remaining stragglers.

I would not kill them inside the computer. Ants excrete Formic Acid, which is stronger than Vinegar and may damage things. You need to persuade them to leave. I'm assuming that there are not thousands of them. I would try luring them our with a sugar food source and then killing them outside the computer.

If you just turn the machine on, the heat will probably cause them to move out too.

EDIT: Snap

well i have tried playing shadow of mordor with some ocing the temp is now upto 70 C , plus there are just 20-30 ants inside (maybe just 10) and there is no trail(just stragglers i think), do u suggest the sugar method still?

Thanks for all the answers guys!!
finally solved the problem
i just kept on using the laptop(gaming occasionally) and the ants started coming out !!
I squished them and thats the end
Then i opened the case and found some guys under my battery and under my mobo(not much) ..cleaned them too
Thanks
