Go with the newer and cheaper Z97 Gryphon. There's no difference performance wise, both are high end mATX boards.

How about the audio? I hear it's better in the MVG than the Gryphon.. However I have no idea how big is the difference and if it's really noticeable in the real world.

What do you think?

Technically M7 Gene's audio is better, but unless you hook up $300 headsets or 5.1 channel speakers, or check the accuracy with synthetic benchmarks, both will fit the needs just fine. Honestly, for a regular gamer/ user, the audio chip on Gryphon is more than fine.
