URGENT!!! Cryorig H7 won’t fit over original backplate

I was installing my Cryorig H7, and by the way I’m a complete hardware noob, and I ran into a big problem. The original backplate that was on there was too thick and with the cryorig one overtop the screws didn’t reach far enough to put the caps fully over. Where can I buy, if I even can, the one seen in the video before he puts the cryorig one over it.

You don't use them both. You only use the one that came with the H7. There is no "other" one that he puts on before putting the included backplate on. ONLY the backplate that comes WITH the cooler is to be used.

What you see on the back of the motherboard is part of the hardware that holds the CPU lock assembly in place. The backing plate for the CPU cooler should go OVER that, and if you don't have any hardware on the back holding the CPU lock assembly onto the motherboard, then you have bigger problems OR you have a motherboard with a push pin CPU lock that doesn't require it, although I don't recall seeing any of those in recent memory.

Also, make sure you have the backplate turned the correct way. One side is likely to move the arms on the motherboard further away, making the bolts too short to fit.

I’ve tried just about everything with no success. My motherboard is called tampa2.

Looks like a standard mATX Z370 motherboard to me. That small plate on the back should already be there, holding the CPU lock assembly in place. If it is not, then either you took it off or there is a serious mystery to be solved because it should certainly be there.

Installing that cooler should be a simple matter of removing the backplate that was used with the stock cooler, attaching the new backplate that came with the cooler, with the "arms" angled so they are down, closest to the board and the body of the backplate slightly elevated off the motherboard. Then attaching the cooler to the standoffs once they are fastened to the cooler.

There is nothing complex about this unless that board is extremely thick and I've never seen an HP board that was.

Keep in mind there are two ways to install that backplate. Flipped to one side for AMD and turned the other way for Intel.

There are different fasteners to be used depending on whether you are installing on an AMD or Intel motherboard, so make sure you are using the correct fasteners.
