URGENT!HELP! MY Seagate 1TB plus slim External Hard Drive is not detected on my Mac or Window with light on.

Apr 9, 2009
Hi Guys, I desperate need some helps here. I have tons of photos and videos which are very important to me. All of them are stored in my Seagate 1TB external hard drive. This morning it stops responding. It does not show up on my Mac Book Air, I tried plug into A window Laptop and it has respond but still no icon show up at My Computer. I found it under Device and Printers. It has low volume of beeping sound when I plug it into usb with light on.

So How can I solve this and more important is how I can recover data even I can't save the hard drive?

I tried to use the seatools to troubleshoot but the software just stop responding when it tried to scan the external hard disk.
Welcome to the TH community, lengzaile!

I'd strongly recommend you try using a different USB cable with the external drive and also check how it appears in Disk Management (in Windows) and try to test the drive for defects through Disk Utility (in Mac OS X). You could do the same through Windows using the HDD manufacturer's brand-specific diagnostic tool and check up on the health and SMART status from there.
If you hear any clicking noises from it, you should consider contacting the manufacturer's customer support for assistance. Unfortunately, these sounds could be indicating internal hardware failure which is not something you would be able to fix. :(
I'd also advise you to get in touch with a professional data recovery company for assistance. They might be your best bet on getting those photos and videos back.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
