Urgent help needed with an SSD

I will list my computer specs here for reference:

GPU: Gigabyte 7950 Windforce Edition 3GB Ram
CPU: AMD FX-8350
RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance

The problem is, whilst playing Far Cry 3, I can run it at top settings without any lag however as soon as I try to record with Fraps I have terrible lag, even when I lower the settings to medium there is still very low fps.

I think the problem is my HDD, it is very old and only 5400 rpm, so I am looking into buying an SSD as soon as possible.

I have found this SSD on Scan, I understand that it is refurbished. I am wondering if this is a good SSD for the money, if it will solve my problem and also if I can trust a refurbished component.

I would sooner buy a refurbished pacemaker than any computer gear, an SSD in particular. The term "refurbished" actually means: already broke once (at least).

No solid answers here. You may get a brand new unit that was just repackaged, or a flaky part whose problems don't show up immediately. (I have this problem with refurbished cell phones, they usually have intermittent problems that happen every few days).

I just would recommend a larger SSD. If you are going to be using it regularly for something other then the OS and a few games, get a 250G+ sized one.

I've bought refurb parts before, but there is no way I'd buy a refurb SSD.

EDIT: If it were 10 quid I would. But not for 55 quid.

No way, you will never know how many "writes" it has left, then it is useless. Bite the bullet and do it right, New virgin SSD only.

maybe a rebate is out there...

I am looking at some SSDs now, I am wondering if Sandisk is a good manufacturer to buy from, this is the one I'm looking at:

I have a 128 Sandisk from last year. Seems to be working fine so far.
