hi,
Im planning to set up a new rig but a bit confused,this is purely for gaming
budget is around 55k-60k

1.Should i go for a Intel Based Core i7 920 or save some money there and
opt for a AMD Phenom x4 940 with SLI

2.If AMD plz suggest me a good mobo (upto 10k) for OC'ng

3.I already own a 8800gts 512mb(G91) ..but havent used at yet ..will the performance be affected if i go for sli with AMD processor ?? (most of em go for
amd+ati) but i already own a gfx and cant sell it off now

4.Will this gfx card support 24" full hd screen

5.Moniter - Asus VH242h 1080p .. howz this ?? any other better moniter ?

Thanks

bit confused here

u plan on spendin 55,000 on a computer or 5,500?

plz claridy on that

I would not get the 8800 GTS, go for the 260 GTX or better

As for the i7, OC is always an option to save money if you are comfortable with it

Uber :D

With a 8800GTS already bought, you have pretty much set your gaming performance at a lowish level, particularly with a 1920x... monitor. Almost any modern cpu will drive it to it's limit. You will be able to play many games, but not with good FPS(>60).
For your budget, which is good, I would dispose of the 8800GTS and start with a GTX260 or better. I don't like getting another one for sli either.

I usually start with the 3.5 inch floppy drive, the video card is something new...maybe you should set your sights on the OS, maybe Deskmate...

Hey UberGenocide, LEARN TO TYPE AND SPEAK, maybe in English, just because the rest of the world is STUPID, don't follow along...

guys plz help im unable to decide,very confused between amd phenom and i7
this is purely for gaming ..nd planning to oc .so which would be better ..which config would allow me to play games atleast for a yr or too widout any bottlenecks

thanxks

If you will be playing games that are optimized for more than two cores, then the i7 is a better quad than the phenom. There are currently not that many such games. FSX and supreme commander to name two.
If you will not be playing such games, then a higher clocked duo like the E8500 will be better and cheaper. It would be appropriate to a GTX275, and give you very good performance.

I don't like the term "bottleneck" It implies a fixed upper limit. Actually any better component will help performance. It is just a matter of how much you get from each incremental dollar.

@ Shadow70379, Randomizer has hijacked your avatar!!!

@ OP i7 + SLi is faster. :)

Its really all about price.. you seem willing to spend a pretty penny but if your going an economy build then I'd recommend a cheapo case.. with a 600-800w psu... phenom 940 with an am3 compatible board, dd2 ram, and a 260geforce..

WD VelociRaptor $229 -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136322 OR you could just go with WD 640's for $70's in a raid 0

Rosewill case $54 -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147037

Rosewill PSU 850w $100 ->http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182072
