Hello and thanks for reading this,

I have to order my pc components now in time to be able to assemble by the weekend. Im torn, it’s a Ryzen 1700x and Asus crosshair board.

Memory is either

1) the gskill trident z rgb 3200 cl14
2) or the “ryzen compatible” team dark pro 3200 cl14

Solution
What is the model number of the kit? This is a list of known B die kits below.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/62vp2g/clearing_up_any_samsung_bdie_confusion_eg_on/

Is there no kits on the QVL list you can get instead?
Trident Z RGB kits are hit or miss, and most people don't get it all the way to the full 3200 MHz, usually only to 2933. The Team Dark Pro seems to work for most at 3200 once XMP is set.

If you value the extra speed, the Team RAM is probably better. If you're willing to (potentially) lose some speed for much better looks, then get the Trident Z RGB. Just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if you don't reach 3200MHz on the Trident Z RGB.

Well if one is on your mobo's compability list and the other isn't, I would get the kit that is on the list.

They are both likely using samsung B die IC's considering their speeds and timings so both kits should work at their rated speeds with ryzen. However like I said get a kit on your mobo's QVL list. If they are both on the list it does not matter which you get.

I don't think there is any truth to that. The trident RGB kits rated for say 3200mhz CL16 using likely Samsung E die IC's may not run at their rated speeds on ryzen, however those kits likely wouldn't be on the compatibility list in the first place.

Thanks for the input guys I’m going to check the motherboard compatibility list now.

The part that makes it really hard is I was all set order G skill this month because they were supposed to come out with special memory for AMD but of course they didn’t come out with it and Newegg is having a sale today And the AMD is the same price for the 1700 in the 1700 acts so I have to order today to make sure I can get everything by the weekend as according to my original plan. I am just torn between the aesthetics and functionality I am leaning more towards functionality

Agreed they have but they aren’t quite up to the speed as the two I mentioned above. Plus the two I have listed above have nice OC headroom assuming the next agesa update takes memory a step even further

Done and Done, Thanks everyone

I called g.skill and they couldnt truly confirm what had the samsung b-die. He did say that the F4-3200C14D-16GTZR should have b-die but he couldn't confirm.

new egg tech support said to go with the team dark pro because it is confirmed b die and that the rgb g.skill has had numerous complaints to them. So I went with the 1700x, asus crosshair and team dark pro combo they have right now and saved about $150!!

If anyone is looking at a rye=zen setup they currently have the 1700 and 1700x at the SAME price for $299. Thanks for your help again
