Hi Every 1, I am tagging on the post made by others, as I have a related query.. I do hope I get some advice and knowledge as well as pointers from you all.. :)

I am not a Pro gamer, a semi-casual gamer who would like to play games on better fps. My current PC is a dinosaur (30fps).

The games I play are The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The elder scroll online, Used to play DOOM now Play Path of exile,

I need help with the following:
1) Is there any way I can better the build.
2) The stuff I have selected are making the build really Expensive.. I can afford it but would like to save some money for sure and may be turn down the dial. ( If you know what I mean) hehehe
3) Also I have never built a PC B4 so a little scared about it.. any tips on what to do and mostly what not to do would be helpful ( SHOULD I BUILD IT - Or - Should I just go and get it built by some 1 else)

My Current PC Specs:

- Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3210 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3200 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
- OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 2GB
- MOBO : I do not remember and can not find out what it is .. ( I know Noob alert 😀 )
- RAM: 8gb

I am trying to make my 1st build and the specks that I have shortlisted are below:

- MOBO: ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VII HERO Motherboard (Amd Socket AM4/Ryzen Series
CPU/Max 64GB DDR4-3600MHz

- CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 2600X 2nd Generation Hexa Core Processor - With Wraith Spire Cooling
Solution (AM4 Socket, 19m Cache, Up To 4.2 Ghz)

- GPU: ASUS GRAPHICS CARD PASCAL SERIES - GTX 1070 TI ADVANCED 8GB GDDR5 ROG
STRIX GAMING EDITION

- RAM: CORSAIR CMR16GX4M2C3000C16W Desktop Ram Vengeance Rgb Series – 16GB
(8GBx2) DDR4 Dram 3000MHz

- PSU: CORSAIR SMPS RM550X - 550 WATT 80 PLUS GOLD CERTIFICATION FULLY
MODULAR PSU

- COOLER: CORSAIR H100i V2 240mm Extreme Performance Cpu Liquid Cooler

- STORAGE: - SAMSUNG 860 EVO 250GB M.2 Internal Ssd - (MZ-N6E250BW)
- SEAGATE DESKTOP HARD DRIVE 2TB BARRACUDA (ST2000DM006)

- CASE: CORSAIR MID TOWER CABINET (E-ATX) - 300R WITH TRANSPARENT SIDE PANEL
(BLACK)

- KEYBOARD: COOLER MASTER MASTERKEYS PRO L Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Cherry
Mx Red Switches - With White Backlight

- MOUSE: RAZER BASILISK Ergonomic Wired Mechanical Gaming Mouse RZ01-02330100-R3A1
(16000 DPI, 5G Optical Sensor, RGB Chroma Lighting, 1000 Hz Ultrapolling)

- INTERNAL DISC PLAYER: ASUS 16X BLU-RAY Internal DVD Writer (BW-16D1HT PRO)

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. :)

Cheers all

Solution
You've picked one of the most expensive boards out there + you don't need the liquid cooling.

That's $250 you can save instantly

Also for a 'semi casual gamer' the mouse & keyboard options are quite expensive touches.

:) i wanted to get me a build that would last the next few years...
as pointed out will get rid of the cooler thanx Sire...
but I still need advice on should i change some stuff or go with the current list I have picked ( could you suggest a diff build that would cut some $$$ .. I have mentioned the games I right now like to play .. and would want a PC that is able to let me evolve as a gamer into 1 who can play better and thus have more fun..

Cheers & thank you

if you can wait till end of the year for amd to stock the newer cpu and have the newer gpu drop from amd and nvidia. there may be better priced at the end of the year if there better stock then. you can see if you can get a tax donation write off on your old pc see if there any non profits that looking for good working pc for low income people. go with a locked intel cpu and a b/h mb to cut down on costs.

No tax write-offs lol... I am just gonna gift it to someone who can still use it.. I need the PC now .. can not wait at all 🙁

Some easy ways of reducing cost is getting a lower end motherboard - it will not affect the longevity of your build. Another easy thing to do is drop the cooler altogether, and use the stock cooler, it is quite enough to run the CPU cool and stable, it will run for years without issue. One more thing you can do, but I don't really recommend this, is to go with the Ryzen 5 2600 instead of 2600X. The CPU is almost the same except a slightly lower clock speed, and it comes with a worse cooler. It will still run fine, but the cooler feels a bit inadequate for a six-core processor, IMO.

You can also go with a DDR4-2666 MHz kit instead, there really isn't as much of a performance difference. Plus, 2666 MHz is guaranteed to work in every motherboard.

One final thing is to drop the DVD writer if you don't need it, though it won't make a lot of difference in price, it's an unnecessary cost in most cases anyway.

Don't know how much that build you have in the post costs, but how about this:

Hi , Madmatt, thank you for the reply buddy

India is where I am ..

I checked the prices of the specks
what I listed is totaling to : $2500 ( converted from Indian Rupees)
and the one suggested is : $300 or so less kinda leaning towards it now , still undecided

I do get the point on the blue ray but at times My Mom does get a disk that she wants me to either play or burn for her.. either way that is not the price breaker..

I do need to get me everything for the PC ( Keyboard, mice, OS, and other software ... 🙁 )

Looks like this desire to upgrade is gonna make me get into some major spending lol....

that is why I wanted to ask you all tech wizards to gimme a rig that will let me play the games I like for as cheap as possible

thanks a lot for taking the time out and assisting me Y'all....

hoping for a solution as they say

Cheers

You can try primeabgb.com or mdcomputers.in for PC parts, they're cheaper there. The local store is also a good option for buying PC hardware.

There's still a few ways to reduce the overall cost, but there might be some performance loss going further down. If you are going for a 1080p monitor, then a 1070 Ti is overkill unless its 144 Hz. You could get by with a GTX 1060 6 GB, or at most a GTX 1070. You can also go with a Ryzen 5 1600 and a B350 board, that'll also be cheaper.

There are still lots of ways to reduce the price, just depends on where you want to sacrifice performance.

^ yeah I'm with shektron on a lot of this.

You can cut budget hugely & still have a great system.

As good as the 2600x is it's not worth the extra over either the i5 8400 or the ryzen 1600.

I know a lot of the prices on amazon are unreliable from that list.

Theyre good starting points though.

Thank you Shektron and Madmatt... U both have really saved my bacon ... literally lol...

I shall go with the new specks you both suggested... it sure will ...
My VDU is Hp pavilion 22fi got it a year back and its working fine .. PLUS you both make perfect logic and the huge PLUS is it saves me a lot ...

Now off to SP road to check the rates ...

Oh, I almost forgot....

SO do you both suggest still I BUILD it at home... ( will save some more )

any advice if I do build it by myself..

thank you 1ce again

Cheers

As for advice, make sure you get yourself grounded before and during the building process. You can do this be buying a cheap anti-static wrist band or simply by placing the PC case on the ground and touching it. This removes static electricity buildup in your hands, so that you don't damage any components during the build. You'll need a Philips head screwdriver, and, if you want, some zip ties for cable management.

Handle all components carefully, dropping almost any part has high risks of making them unusable. Watch a few YouTube videos on how to build a PC, you'll pick up many tips in the process that no one can list here in one go. I recommend watching a YouTube channel called Tech Deals, he does great detailed building guides and can help a lot.

Really grateful and obliged for the time and effort you both have put in to assist me ...

thanks and will chat again :)

Still overspending on the motherboard. Get an ASRock AB350 Pro4, it's cheaper and still a solid board for the price.

Also, you're still spending a lot on peripherals, but that's your personal choice and if you feel like you need high-end peripherals, then you can go ahead with the ones you have listed - just know that you can spend less on them and still get a good experience.

hi guyz.. just an after thought foot note actually...

is this pc build i am going for VR ready .. if so which headset and controllers I need to play / watch movies on VR..

just something i got curious while browsing ... hehehe

hope you guyz still monitor this as I would like to get some heads up on it ...

cheers

I saw that you're also wanting to buy Win10 Pro for 15000 INR. Technically, you could save that 15K and use a completely legal copy of Windows for free. You just have to create a bootable USB drive (at least 8GB capacity) using Windows Media Creation Tool. There are bunch of video tutorials online on how to do it, it's super easy, just tappiwng a few mouse clicks. Only disadvantage of this is not being able to customise your desktop. Like, changing wallpaper and stuff like that. Otherwise, it's a fully fledged Windows 10. (And Pro version is more expensive than Home. Why would you need Pro, anyway?). And then when more money comes in the future, can grab a licence key.

Yes, it is VR ready. You'll need the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive - both will work with your hardware, and the both have separate controllers. You can usually buy the headset and controller as a single package.

I'm all for mech key boards! so go you. on the mouse you could go for logitech g203 and you would be set. save money on the mouse. also... honestly when was the last time you used an optical drive? I haven't had to use an optical drive in the past 5 years. need to install windows? usb drives. need to back up files? external hard drive/usb flash drive. need to install a new game? install it from publisher's website or steam.

Assuming you are up & running with windows 10 & the only issue is the secondary 2tb drive is not showing up as useable in windows ??
If so this is a simple step that throws many people out.

The drive has to be partitioned & given a drive letter in disk management.

Right mouse click the windows start button bottom left of taskbar

Select the 'disk management option'

follow the instruction here

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-format-new-hard-drive-windows-10

Obviously do not touch disk 0 (which is already partioned ,shown as c drive & contains your os)

It will be disk 1 or 2 (depending on which drive your pc has designated the dvd drive to - will be clearly shown in the left hand descrption tab)
