I have ordered every part of my PC components except GPU. I cannot choose between single 980 or 2 970s in SLI. I won't change the GPU for 2 years or perhaps 3 years. I was thinking of changing GPU yearly but it is not possible :-( . I want to max each and everything excpet MSAA & other very demading setting in games. So, please provide me suggestions & benchmark results of both GPUs on GTA V, Assassin's Creed Unity, COD: Advanced Warfare, Ryse Son of Rome, etc. because I am not finding suitable benchamrk at 1080p for 970 SLI especially on GTA V. And another thing I am worried is VRAM issue on GTX 970 because I don't know much VRAM does new games need & how much does GTA V needs at 1080p because I want to play it maxed out on my new build. Please help me choose one GPU between those two. Below the Specification of the computer is given:

Mother Board: MSI ATX DDR3 Z97A Gaming 9 ACK
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.0GHZ (8MB Cache)
GPU: MSI GTX Gaming 4G 980(only one) OR 970 in SLI (Which to choose)
RAM: ADATA XPG V2 Series 1866 MHZ DDR3 16GB
HDD: Western Digital Blue 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 6.0GB/S
SSD: 256GB ADATA SSD
Optical Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black)
Power Supply: Power Supply will be from Corsair if single GPU it will be 600W, if SLI than 850W
CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i
Casing: Corsair Graphite 780T Full Tower Case
Monitor: BenQ 24" RL2455HM, Full HD VA Panel
Operating System: Genuine Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit

Thanks in advance :)

970s in SLI will do fine at everything maxed at 1440P. If you're gonna go SLi and want Corsair power, then please make sure you're buying EITHER, The newest RM850 that was recently revised (The one that works properly), the HX1000i or the AX 860 / 860i. Anything below them, don't buy.

To my mind, the choice is obvious:
1080p – single 970, probably won't even need SLI in two years.
1440p – single 980, a second one later if required.
Don't start with SLI from the beginning.
Good 800-850W PSU. If Corsair is required (you have some discount or what), go AX/AXi series as dottorrent suggested. If not, choose something else, like Seasonic X850/Platinum 860 or Cooler Master V850

Thanks for your answer but my main question is VRAM issue of 3.5GB +500MB in GTX 970, I was looking for single GTX 980 first but with some little money added 2 GTX 970 will probably give you better FPS on upcoming agmes than single GTX 980. So, will the VRAM issue affect the game. Most says once you cross 3.5GB of VRAM in GTX 970 your game performance will be slow, some lags, screeen tearing, etc. Is it true. If it is then suggest me somthng better than this card. Yeah I can play with some tweaked settings in the game and another reason I am looking for SLI is the directX 12. There are many articles that are saying DirectX 12 can combine the power of 2GPUs inton one big GPU.And please provide me some benchmark of GTX 970 SLI & VRAM usage in game if you can because I am not finding it anywhere. Especially loook for games like Assassin's Creed Unity, GTA V please & COD: Advanced Warfare, etc. I would really appercitate it and fast please because the computer shop is asking for GPU Model.

The gtx 970 only has 3.5 gb of vram if you use anymore than that you will lag / tear / stutter. Advise is to buy either a single gtx 980 or titan x or if you do not mind amd then two 290x's crossfired or a 295x will destroy the titan x.

OP, Corsairs heirarchy of psu quality is as follows (poor quality to great quality)...
VS, CK, CS, RM, HX/i, AX/i.

Youll likely find TX series on amazon, etc. The RM series is the TX replacement.

80fps average in modern titles isn't convincing enough?

970 sli is a beast gpu setup. Fps isnt in question. The comment about only thise specific psu's being good enough is what im contradicting. Any rm, hx, hxi, ax or axi 850w or more will work. Personally, i wouldnt go rm series, as its basically rebadged tx series.

I wouldn't buy any Corsair PSU because there are so many nice alternatives. Well, maybe I would've gone for their Titanium-rated model if I needed a very powerful PSU.

Most quality name brand models are made by seasonic/superflower/cwt/enermax anyway.

OP, whatever you choose for a psu, remember in the case of psu's, cost most definitely reflects quality. Dont expect to get a killer 850w psu for 60 bucks. This is a component that "you get what you pay for" couldnt be more true.

Maybe go a bit bigger wattage if you plan on waterblocking your sli setup in the future, or if youre gonna add lights and drives, etc. If youre gonna stay air cooled on the cards, the other posters suggestion of 850w is good.

Speaking to the question of which graphics card setup....check this out.

Seasonic, yes, I know. Mine has KM3 Seasonic platform inside. I just don't like Corsair prices.

Well,
After seeing some benchmarks most latest games use VRAM like 3.2 to 3.8GB . So, I am consediring a single GTX 980 now and later on, I will either SLI them or just find a suitable GPU by selling it. The PSU will be Corsair AX860i Digital ATX Power Supply Platinum Certified Fully Modular. Becasue of single GTX 980 I considered using that 100 bucks on better power supply. And another question does anyone here knows when will GTX 980 Ti release? If its releasing soon then I may wait sometime like upto 1 month becasue I have my old GPU from my old rig GTX 750. If its releasing after long time then i will move on to GTX 980 and overclock it. And can anyone suggest me a good 120 to 144HZ monitor under 250$ I am not going too high on monitor because my dad has a 4K monitor which he said he will let me use. So, I am not too worried on monitor I will play for FPS on 10080p monitor and for detail but low fps on 4K.

Thanks for your answers.
