i literally just bought this card brand new and installed it into my pc

i have an i5 4690k
8 gigs ram
240 gb ssd

went to run some benchmarks on multiple games... bf4 turned up only 70 fps on everything max at 1080p

now this dosent make sense since im essentially running TWO r9 290x's where only one r9 290x would get around 70

any help??

Solution

He's given his specs. He has an i5-4690K and 8GB of DDR3 memory (unless he posted that since your comment).

*If your performance is lower than others then it must be a driver issue as you have a great CPU so that can't be the issue. Here's a benchmark for BF4 and there's others if you have those games (must use exact same settings):

So yeah, it's 132FPS at 1200p for BF4 (again same settings which is ULTRA and AA at 2xMSAA)

Can you confirm you have the latest AMD drivers and that Crossfire is enabled in...

The 295x2 is not built for lower resolution, it's built for 4k, so Nvidia would have the advantage in lower resolutions.

I don't know how 70 fps is low, but I guess it's different for every person. Like I said, the 295x2 is simply not built for lower resolution, purely built for 4k gaming.

POWER:
You have the proper PCIe connections to the card?

Other:
Obviously you want to solve your issue, but for some games you might want to use VSYNC if screen tear is an issue. If the monitor is 144Hz you can use RadeonPro to force Dynamic VSYNC on a per game basis. The "HALF" method of that will synch to 72FPS and if you can't output 72FPS+ it simply turns VSYNC off to avoid stutter.

You wouldn't need any other specs except perhaps the PSU though I doubt he'd have one that didn't work. Anyway, not a big deal.

It seems perhaps Crossfire isn't enabled but hard to say.

Actually I don't even know if there will be one in there since the 295x2 might, just might be auto crossfired. Never really tried it since I used both right away.

Well, that's nice to know then.

but a lot of those have i7 4790k processors and 16gb of ddr3 ram
