Hi,
I´m in a situation where currently I have to WD 2TB drives. One is full and the other one is empty. I want to build a RAID 1 array here. Since creating one deletes all data here is my plan.
1. Use Clonezilla to make a full drive image(just to be safe, or is it enough if I just backup the partitions?)
2. Erase both discs
3. Setup hardware(mobo) raid 1
4. Restore image to one of the discs
5. Rebuild the array
I dont want to use software raid, since my backup will restore windows(backup drive is a primary system drive!!!) and that would delete the raid array. Im using Win 10.
Do I need any drivers?
I think I could restore my MBR and startup settings through Win10 setup command line/recovery options
My question is do I backup the partitions or the whole drive and will this work? I am doing this for a company and i have this weekend to finish it.
Thanks in Advance!
