Hello, as you can see, i have a lumia 925 running the most recent WP 8.1 update. Since about the beginning of November, i installed the most recent update at the time. Then after about 7 hours of my phone being in my pocket, i took it out and began to use it by browsing the internet. An error appeared saying no sim card was inserted. I thought then that just taking it out when i got home would work. I did that, but the next day it happened again. I began to become suspicious of the update. Then, one day, i was glad to see a new update, which did not fix the problem. I replaced the sim card, but that didn't work. Ever since then, I realized it only happened when the phone was hot. I think this could be the problem, but i dont know how to fix it. It could also be the update which tells the phone to stop recognizing the Sim card after a certain temperature, though that is unlikely. My phone doesn't get any hotter than it use to, and i really want to be able to use internet for more than 5 minutes again. The problem also happens over WIFI, if that's important. Please help me, as i dont want to get a new phone with warranty.

I personally own the nokia 925, and have never had any SIM card issues before.

However, my last phone was an HTC 8x, and it was having the same issues you're experiencing. Have you tried the "tape trick" yet?
the "Tape trick" is when you put a layer of tape on the sim card. Not the side with the contact points, but the side with the logo on it.

Try a single layer, and make sure there is no tape overhanging off the sides of the sim card. If it happens again, try more layers until it stops.
Don't try so many that you have to apply a huge amount of pressure to get it in, though.

I've tried that with one layer, it didn't work, and 2 layers wouldn't fit the tray. Im pretty sure its the heat that's the problem anyway, and adding tape will just increase the heat.

Do you have any warranty/insurance/care plan on your device?
The SIM card does not produce any heat inside the phone.
What type of tape are you using? It's okay if you have to apply more pressure than normal, you're just trying not to get it stuck in there.

Do you often run the phone at high load like streaming, uploading, playing heavy games, etc?
You could have weakened the plastic of the SIM Tray or something if you do it often enough. You could try a new sim tray... they are less than $10 on ebay.

Well now that you mention it, ive noticed one of the plastic notches that hold the sim card came off. I will try a new one soon and let you know.

That'll do it, lol.

Well i have one question, if it does work (replacing the tray), why does it only happen when the phone gets hot, like playing a game or something? dont you think it would happen more when bouncing around in my pocket?

The only explanation I can think of is the plastic of the tray expanding and allowing the SIM card to move within the tray.
But the only time this phone gets hot is when im running team viewer to my desktop (Very stressful for the phone). What are you doing when it gets hot?

I shouldnt say hot, ,more like warm, about 80 farenheit when casual browsing, internet apps, and other things alike, and about 90 if i was playing games like asphalt 8. these are just wild guesses though, not sure if theyre accurate.
