On spring break at friends aunts, need response before i leave in order to fix the printer. She has a Lexmark z52, constant errors messages saying "printer offline", "cannot communicate with printer" Connections are connected properly, printer is on, drivers have been checked, uninstalled, re-installed etc. Any ideas from anyone. Lexmark has been no help!!

What OS is this? Has the printer been tested on another computer?

The OS is Win98, and yes it has been tested on another computer, and the printer worked fine.

Try reinstalling the drivers, making sure you're using the right drivers for Win98. Also, there is the possibility of a damaged printer port.
