What is the best laptop for a science undergrad?

I plan on studying on the Khan academy. Likely a couple hours at a time, in a cubicle. Aside from this, the computer may very well only be used for email, browsing, social networking, and occasional movie ect

Hope to be able to hook up my ti84 calculator. So need USB A,

Wondering what is something that I will really be astounded by, that will help me to learn. What is the best computer for a 6ft tall, male, doing what I'm trying to do?(I.E. something that might astounded me would be clear picture *less strain on eyes* high performance, ect...)

ok, real talk here. your parents aren't around. what games do you want to play on it?

-because if it's a question about a durable, portable laptop for email and word processing, then I can name a number of very nice ultrabooks with rugged aluminum bodies, no moving parts, solid state drive, and a battery that will last all day; well ASUS used to make a zenbook like that, but now they make overpriced junk but i'm sure someone out there makes one like this

however you're not gonna game on what I'm thinking about.

If you want to game you're gonna spend some bank.

Next questions, how big a screen do you want? What type of battery life? how important is portability (light weight)?, do you want a 2 in 1 tablet convertible?

I was looking at the Hp onyx, its got high specs

Also

The 12 gb Hp 3.5ghz with boost

Wanting something that can take getting jossled.

Not sure if I need the gaming specs though.

Starting to think of the Acer 11

I own an Asus Zenbook; a few years ago ASUS used to make this fantastic minimalist ultrabook called the zenbook (they still make it but the product is overpriced, overspeced junk in comparison); it sported zero moving parts (the aluminum body was a giant passive heatsink for the cpu), a 250gb ssd, 8gb of ram and a 13" 1080p monitor, had a battery that would run for 10 hours easy (I have owned mine since 2015, and I still only charge it once every 2 weeks). Paid just $600 for it

Now their zenbook lineup sports high end parts, has a shorter battery life (5-7 hours), is about 2x the weight (the original zenbook came in at under 2 pounds), sports fans to cool those massive cpus, and go for 900-1500. disappointing really what happened to the lineup is a shame.

I'm sure someone still makes what I'm thinking about though. as for your HP, i wouldn't buy it. If you're dropping 800 on a laptop and it doesn't come with a ssd, it's junk.

I'll do some research, at work right now, so I'm sort of limited. if you can wait 6 hours I'll have some suggestions.

Which laptop should I go with for my intended uses?

Acer chromebook 11, the expensive $500 USD laptop, and -- the Hp stream book.

well a chromebook won't even run windows.

if your needs are that basic... then get whatever you want. just take this warning. with Lenovo, Acer, Toshiba and HP you typically get EXACTLY what you pay for. so a $200 HP laptop will be little better then a children's toy with little to no expected lifespan..
