Usable ram in windows 7

Hello,
Hi I just build a new system I put in 16 gig ram DDR3 1600, I installed new install Windows 7 it says I only have 987Mb usable. Now I just change the mobo, and Install 16 gigs New ram DDR3 2133 and still says 16 Gig installed but only 987 Mb usable. Please tell me how I can fix this? Thanks

well, I installed first 64 bit, but was getting some blue screens. Then tried 32 bit. I have since found a couple of settings in bios and all is good now. I have reverted to 64 bit. All is squared away and windows score is 7.9 in all catagories. I appreciate your response tho. Thanks! Gene

Can u plz tell me the bois setting i m getting same problem with win7 32bit. m using dell core i3 with 4gb ddr3

You can only utilize 2GB of ram in 32 bit windows, you must install 64 bit windows to use all 4 GB.
