USB 2.0 on USB 3.0 port is it possible?

i bought external DVD/RW which runs the speed of USB 2.0 and i am using laptop of win8 with USB 3.0 and it is not working so how i can use the DVD external, any ideas friends.
really will be appreciated ,

Dear, you can use DVD/RW on USB 3.0. No Issue at all.

Remember, most USB 3.0 devices are USB 2.0 compatible as well and USB 2.0 devices can run at USB 3.0.

I mix and match all the time with no problem.The connection will run at the lowest speed though i.e. USB 2.0

Remember to install the appropriate drivers. Do a search for them if not available by disk.

but how can you expain it for me the USB icon appears on the taskbar and then dissappears.

Try contacting seller if you can't locate any id marks on the equipment

Make/model will be mentioned on the packing box of the DVD/RW or most DVD/RWs have their brand mentioned right infront of them. Pl see that
