Hello.

For the last few months, I have had a problem with getting my USB 2.0 ports to work properly. My old PSU finally kicked the bucket a few months back also and I replaced it with a much newer one for a low cost. Everything was fine for a few days until randomly my USB 2.0 ports stopped working. I have been trying many things that other websites have been suggesting me such as running memory tests, registry tests, checking hardware manager, resetting CMOS, and checking for new drivers. I would like to exhaust all my options in case my Mobo ports really are dead so I don't jump the gun in case it's still a driver issue. Several of my devices in Hardware Manager show up as not connected and provide me with a Code 45 error (device not connected) which I haven't gained much knowledge on what causes this error. I have not changed any cables inside my PC except exchanging the old PSU with the new PSU. Everything else runs fine except for the ports. I have been using it only to do work because gaming is a bit of a nuisance to do with no headset. I will provide a list of specs down below in order to speed up this process.

CPU: AMD FX 8350
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0
Ram: 2 4GB DDR3 G.Skill
SSD/HDD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250gb/ TOSHIBA Dt01ACA1000 1tb
GPU: GTX 1060 3gb
PSU: Corsair VS650
Chassis: LEPA Smok Series LPC309(U3) Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
OS: Windows 10 64bit

PSS: I believe there might also be some controllers missing from my Device Manager list if anyone can confirm or deny I would greatly appreciate it, my knowledge on what controllers and such I require is lacking. Thank you.

Your motherboard has 2 USB controllers. The AMD chipset and an add-on VIA VL805 controller chip. You may have a problem with the drivers for the VIA add-on controller chip. Check in the Device Manager.

  • Chipset * - 8 USB 2.0/1.1 ports (4 ports on the back panel, 4 ports available through the internal USB headers)
  • VIA® VL805 chip * - 4 USB 3.0/2.0 ports (2 ports on the back panel, 2 ports available through the internal USB header)

Thanks for the fast response, I've been looking into the system devices and it seems that several of my Devices have no drivers installed. I've tried rolling back a few but they still have, "There are no drivers for this device installed" message. They give me a date of 6/21/2006 which cannot possibly be the latest drivers. Seems like its a lot of the mobo drivers, but I have run the CD that came with it in order to put the chipset drivers back on but this had no effect.

I am not sure where the VL805 chip would be located at in the Device Manager as I cannot located it in System Devices or anywhere else.

Your patience is appreciated.

If I look underneath the events, I also get a "device not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match"

Device VUSB\VID_2109&PID_3431\6&9379fac&1&1 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

Unfortunately this may just be an incompatibility between Windows 10 and the VIA add-on controller chip. Try running "System File Checker" to see if that can fix the problem. If that does not help there is probably nothing else you can do.

But I had windows 10 before and I had no problems? Ive ran sfc many times in order to solve this problem but Ill give it another go.

After looking at your motherboards specs again it appears that all your USB 3.0 ports are controlled by the VIA add-on chip and all your USB 2.0 ports are controlled by the AMD SB710 South Bridge of the motherboard chipset. So the problem is not the VIA add-on chip.
I'll try looking for the drivers. If you find the link before me, share if possible. Thanks.
