USB 2 hub on USB3

Hello,
I just installed a USB3 expansion card and added a USB2 hub which has its own power supply, however, it was recognised and connected without me powering up the hub. Do I need to use the hub power supply_it seems to work fine without it or will I cause any problems by using its own power supply as well.

The hub power supply is only needed if you have several power hungry USB devices (like hard drives) attached at once. Otherwise, as you have found, the hub itself will get power from the computer's USB port.

Thanks, that was pretty much the same conclusion that I had come to, I just needed to be sure.
