USB 2 mobo to USB 3 case

My mother-in-law snapped off a USB 2.0 cable on the top of my Lian Li PCX1000 tower - wrecking the multimedia port.

I can't find a replacement anywhere so I am going to have to buy a USB 3.0 replacement port which is the same size.

How do I plug a USB 3.0 connector into a USB 2.0 MOBO?

the usb 3.0 header cable is slightly different from the 2.0 so they wont fit

Lian li should be able to supply the replacement part if you contact C.s.
but the 19pin usb 3.0 header will not fit anywhere on a motherboard that does not support it, its totally different to the usual usb header design
whats the actual part thats broken, may be able to conjure a mod to sort you out,
