USB 3.0 Hubs and their effectiveness

Long story short:

I ran out of USB slots on the front of my case (2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0s) and putting a phone charger to the back of my case isn't too ideal.
So i was wondering would a USB hub be as fast/efficient as plugging it straight to the PC in these scenarios:
Recharging Tablets and Phones,
USB sticks and external HDDs,
and possibly put my mouse, keyboard, headset or even my xbox controller on one too for easier access and cable management?

That hub comes with a power supply, so the short answer is yes for all. For charging, use the port labeled with a lightning bolt.

or you could just use an extender cable and have it laying next tot he pc. thats chaper.

a hub like the one you linked would work though. agreed, i'd use the one with the lightning bolt as this is likely meant for charging.
