USB 3.0 PCI-e Card Not Being Detected In Windows

Hey guys,

I'm having an issue installing USB 3.0 PCI-E cards in my motherboard and
actually have them be recognized in windows. I tried using two different
cards in different pci-e 1x and pci-e 16x ports. Windows is not detecting my
cards at all. One of the cards was RMA'd and the other I just bought still
nothing. I'm using molex straight from my PSU that does not have any other
devices plugged into them. The weird thing is that one of the external
devices that is plugged into the cards is getting power because the light is
on. I tried installing the drivers, but because the hardware is not
detected, I cant even get that far. A few troubleshooting steps:

- I made sure the motherboard BIOS was updated to the latest version.
- The onboard USB 3.0 works no problem
- I checked the slots to make that those were the issue by plugging in an
Ethernet card in them and those were fine.
- I don't see anything in the BIOS that I may have missed. I DID NOT check
the legacy BIOS settings yet though.
- I used different rails with molex on them that I know for sure work to
eliminate that.
- I was able to unplug the cards while in Windows from the slots and nothing
happened. When I plugged the cards back in, as expected, Windows rebooted
immediately, so the slots for sure work. (I know not to hot-swap, but wanted to see if the slots themselves might have had an issue)

Here is the links for my cards and my motherboard. Again, I've pretty much
tried everything that I can think of to see if its a full-blown hardware
issue or not.IS there a BIOS setting that I'm missing? Any help is
appreciated.

Unfortunately I don't have another mobo to test on. What compatibility issue might I be having?

k so I think I figured out my issue. If you look at the details of my
motherboard it has two x16 slots and two x1 slots as well as two pci slots.
I plugged both cards into the x16 slot and they worked! The problem is that
Ethernet card (the onboard Ethernet no longer works) isn't working in either
of the x1 slots. After doing some reading, it appears that the second x16
shares bandwidth with both of the x1 slots. My issue now is that in the BIOS
I tried playing with the one setting that is supposed to control 2nd x16
slot and the bandwidth shared with the two remaining x1 slots. Hopefully
this makes to someone out there and they can shed some light........

If your PCIe is version 3, a single 1X lane should be able to handle USB 3.0 but not gigabit ethernet.
Try plugging the USB cards into the 1X slots, and the network card in the 16X slot.

A bit late on this one, but the math is still relevant.
