Hi All,

I've just upgraded my PC so it now has an Asus Z170-K motherboard, which is capable of USB 3.1, but have re-used my existing case so that has two front mounted USB 2.0 ports. My OS is Windows 10. I have installed all of the drivers from the Asus site, however my PC refuses to open USB 3.0 pens in any USB port. USB 2.0 works fine in any port and the USB 3.0 pen works on other PCs.

I get the notification bing-bong when I connect it, I can see the USB pen in Device Manager and Disk Manager, however I am unable to assign a drive letter and I'm not able to see the USB pen in File Explorer.

This is driving me round the bend so any help would be really, really appreciated! Thank you!

Make sure BIOS is up to date.

The BIOS is a custom one from SCAN Computers to factory overclock the computer. I don't think I can change it without losing the overclocking.

Well it may be that the version of Basic Input/Output System you use doesn't support USB 3.0 and so doesn't allow devices in such ports to function properly. Perhaps try to completly remove the drivers for the USB 3.0 and Re-install them.
