Hi all!
I've been noticing a problem with the USB 3.0 ports on my laptop. Whenever a 3.0 capable device is connected and is wiggled (even slightly) around in the port, the device temporarily loses connection with the laptop (more specifically a storage device). However, whenever I connect a 2.0 capable (storage) device (or force 2.0) and slightly wiggle it around, it is not affected.

I've verified that the connector for each of my 3.0 capable devices are fine and not the issue. I've also already tried cleaning the laptop ports with a cotton swab and a little isopropyl alcohol, and compressed air. I'm not sure if I didn't clean it well or it's a problem with the inside of the port...

I don't use my ports too often... How would I fix this properly? (I was about to try opening my laptop and pushing the contact metal inward a little, but I'm not sure if that will work very well.)
Thanks!

In all honesty the ports shouldn't be wiggled. Normal use case scenario's dictate that you do not move your device while it's connected to any USB port to avoid loss in connection and corruption of data. Often times all that moving around can and will lead to a damaged port as well. I've had to quite literally repair a USB port since an end user was always moving the laptop on his laps when a device was connected, easily could've been avoided if the laptop was on a flat surface during data transfer.

Oh definitely. It was for diagnosis purposes only.
But even if I very lightly move the laptop or the external drive (where the connector in the port might move a tiny bit) for adjusting, I still get connection issues...
What would be the best way to fix this?
