USB 3.0 Ports not working after new CPU install

Hello, everyone! I have an issue with my USB 3.0 ports after installing a new CPU into my desktop. They've mysteriously stopped working.. I tried to download drivers for them, didn't work. Multiple reboots, didn't work. Unplugging (and plugging back in) the USB 3.0 connection cable to my motherboard, didn't work. I've tried a CMOS BIOS reset, didn't work. Only bright side to this is the CPU works wonderfully and my computer runs faster, other than that I don't know what to do now and I really need my usb 3.0 ports to work.

Hardware info is here:
Motherboard: ASUS M51 AD
CPU (new): Intel i7 4790k Haswell clocked to 4.0 GHZ
RAM: 12 GB DDR3
GPU: nVidia GTX 780 Ti 3GB
OS: Windows 8.1 x64
Power Supply: 500 Watt (maybe i need to upgrade to a 750 watt?)

I once had an issue where usb 3.0 ports were not detecting any usb 2.0 device, thus not working. To solve this i found an USB settings in the bios that was:

USB 3.0 legacy support
USB 2.0 EHCI support

if i recall correctly, its been a while, but enabling those made everything work.

My USB 3.0 ports are detecting absolutely nothing, i'll still give your solution a try.

I have a UEFI bios so i'm pretty sure I should be able to change it. Would it be under adv. settings?

Minimum System Power Requirement (W) for video card is 600 watts. Using inadequate power supplies can give a variety of symptoms.

12 GB DDR3 is an unusual RAM combination which can also be problematic.

It's hard to tell since BIOS configs are usually different, but certainly will have some option related to USB settings, could be peripherals settings,or under adv settings. In my BIOS, it has straight away an USB settings option.

Ahhh.. Maybe the PSU is compensating the power load and not powering the USB 3 ports so it doesn't fail, and powering everything else. I'm looking to get another 8 gig stick of ram.

Ahhh.. Maybe the PSU is compensating the power load and not powering the USB 3 ports so it doesn't fail, and powering everything else. I'm looking to get another 8 gig stick of ram.

That conclusion is interesting but way far fetched in my opinion, indeed the recommended is 600W, but thats considering the whole system and under load, not near idle, wich would be the case if you're messing around on desktop environment trying to figure out why whatever you're connecting on your usb port is not working, if you're no messing with rendering or gaming, etc, your system is not even close to draw those watts to the max, unless, and very unless, you're using a cheap ASS 500w PSU, and in that case the real W is roughly the half of what it says, 250W.

I do use my computer for a lot of gaming, yes. I have the stock power supply that came with my computer (the model is an ASUS M51AD ). So I guess, a power supply upgrade is recommended? My PSU's manufacturer is Delta, if that helps any with determining if my psu is cheap.

Some Delta's are quite good. Lose the over clock. Delete usb 3 hubs in device manager and reboot.

Turns out that it was my PSU. I upgraded from 500 watts to 750 watts and it fixed everything.
