USB 3.0 Support Important?

Hi All,

I'm building my first PC I've bought most of the components so far just now need to get a case!

I'm having real trouble deciding what case to buy to match my kit. I've narrowed my search down to these 2 cases at the moment however the only problem I foresee is that they don't have USB 3.0 on the front panel is it an easy case of just fitting USB 3.0 on the back? Also would you advise spending some more money as most of my components are more premium priced?

the thing is that your mobo has some USB 3.0 ports, so if you need USB 3.0 there will be some round hte back of your PC, but if you think you need more than 2xUSB 3.0 ports then you could buy a front USB 3.0 panel seperately later on (or with your case).

I personally wouldn't buy a case without at least 2 usb 3 ports on the front panel, BUT, if you really like the cases without them, yyou can alswys buy something like this

great thanks guys I think I'm not too fussed about the front panel then at the moment I dont have anything that uses USB 3.0 and I can always buy a panel later on.

So which case do you think is better or throw another into the mix!

stop reccommending newegg, hes in the UK...

the HAF 912 plus is a good case, its cheaper on ebuyer (and comes wiht free PandP):

but there are other cases i would say you should consider.

eg the NZXT Hades if you like that kind of thing:

Unless your regularly transfering some rather large files (1GB+) i wouldn't worry too much about USB 3.0

The only thing i find myself using mine for is the extra fast charge times for my iphone 3gs supported by my ASUS motherboard with AI+ Charger.

i use my Biostar mobo for the same thing 😀 and it can charge my phone while the PC is off too! 😀

haha thanks guys for all the suggestions. Do you think it will be a problem buying such a cheap case because I think the rest of the components are enthusiast... I am seriously considering spending a bit more and getting the obsidian 650D

Case mostly just comes down to prefrence.

Theres no doubt the 650D is a really nice case, however so are the HAF cases. Its all down to personal prefrence. Mostly the features are similar, if not exactly the same. Base your purchase on budget, and personal view. After all, its probably going to be the part of the build you see most often

may i ask are you planning to OC at all or planning to crossfire? if you plan to OC to about 4-4.5Ghz and crossfire those 6870s im pretty sure with a good HSF and a case with decent airflow will be able to handle it just fine. (any of the ones you've listed are very good cases).

Hi I just bought the normal version of the board but looking at the GEN3 now it's pretty damn good. Your absolutely right I was planning on OCing to around 4.5GHz. I'm not going to crossfire at the moment but I may want to in the future when I have a bit of extra cash
