Dear all,

I brought a USB 3.0 to Gigabyte adapter for my UX32 laptop, the brand of the adapter is Y-3461, chip is AX88179.

If I use the adapter on a desktop computer, everything is fine. If I use the adapter on a laptop with USB 3.0 port, the light on the adaper (which tell you whether the adapter is working on USB 3.0 mode) doesn't work. So the speed doesn't up to 100MB.

I also tried this adapter on another laptop(Thinpad E430) and a DIY desktop. And the same result.

The driver was installed properly!

Any suggestions!

Hi :)

We have seen this problem in my shops....

SOME USB 3 adapters just will NOT work with certain motherboards, but will with others....only answer we suggest to customers is to buy a DIFFERENT MAKE adapter and try that....

Why use an adapter rather than the network port ?

Is that one of those Zenbook models without a Network port ?

All the best Brett :)

Hi :)

Yes i used to sell those in my shops, but stopped when customers kept ringing me and saying where is the network port...

We used to sell or give them a standard USB2 to Network port adaptor....

With no problems...

If i were you i would try a usb 2 one.... (it wont make a difference to your speed)

All the best Brett :)
