USB 3.1 vs USB 3.0 Speed

Hey guys, I purchased a USB 3.1 SATA adapter here on Amazon and I decided to test the speed difference using a 3.0 USB port and a 3.1 USB port. I have the Asus Z97-A USB 3.1 motherboard and used the USB ports on the back of the PC for both of my tests. I used an Intel 320 Series SSD for my tests. I used CrystalDiskMark 5.1.2 64 Bit and here are my results:

USB 3.1

USB 3.0

I ran both tests twice and got very similar results. Why is USB 3.1 slower than USB 3.0?

the 3.0 is from intel chipset, the other is ASMedia chipset
