Hi,
First of, sorry to ask such a stupid question, but it's bothering me a bit so I'd like to see if you can help me. I didn't find an answer by searching either.
So, I just built a PC from zero for the first time. Everything else went fine with good preparation and some prior part swapping, except for one thing.
I managed to break one pin on the internal USB 3 Header while I plugging it in. It twisted and I tried to straighten it, only to have it break off completely.
The pin is a gnd-pin so I was hesitant to leave the plug in after the accident in fear of a possibility of a short-circuit from that.
I know there's not really anything I can do with the tools on knowledge on hand to fix it, and RMA won't cover this. I'm not keen on buying a new mobo either as I pretty much spent all I had on the setup.
So, I'd like to ask, what would happen if I did plug it in?
Would 1 of the 2 usb 3's on my front panel work? Would there be a risk involved?
The mobo is an ASUS pro gaming aura z170, and the pin that broke is the last pin on the "key-side" of the header.
Thanks you already, and hope you can help me. I'm kinda disappointed in myself atm for messing this up.
