Hi all.

As the thread title says, I have one such modem. It's an MF628 model by ZTE, if that's relevant.

The problem is: it works just fine on my laptop, but lately the connection slows down to a crawl on my desktop gaming computer, when it gets any signal at all. Switching back to my laptop everythings returns to normal. The modem used to work perfectly fine on both computers, which are running Windows 7.

I would be really thankful if someone could help me find out what's wrong so that it can be fixed. The tech guys from the company basically told me "everything's fine on our end, have a nice day".

Thanks in advance.

Is the desktop in the EXACT same spot as the laptop was, and it has the same clear line of site. It's a USB stick modem. Sticking out of the side of a laptop on a desk or table near a window would get a way different signal than in the back of the PC, on a floor, bouncing off a wall. HSDPA is good at decent speeds outdoors, near a windows, etc. Indoors, the 1700/2100 band doesn't penetrate as well. My cell carrier uses it, and I'm in the basement and my phone can go into roaming sometimes unless I wave it around.

Both computers are really close together, almost beside each other, right by the window where they have always been. I always stick the modem in one of the front USB ports on my desktop so it's not behind anything and has a clear path. In fact, if anything, the path is slightly less clear when I'm using it on my laptop.

I'll try that when I can and post here. Failing that, what else could be causing it? Someone told me it could be the USB ports, but they work fine for everything else.
