Hi !
I recently bought a Gigabyte GA-970-Gaming which is a AM3+ socket MB.

The MB has a type - c usb port on it's io,
So my question is, Am I able to use a type - c to hdmi adapter to get video output?

The system is running an FX6300 and 8GB of R.A.M

I am not sure about the answer to my question but somewhere my brain tells me that I won't be able to use an adapter because the CPU doesn't have integrated graphics support!

So hoping someone can answer the question!
Thx in advance!

Hello!

have a look on MSI's website and about halfway down you will see what they say about USB Type C.

You can use it for cameras, tablets, phones, external HDD's and ...batteries 😀

I don't think you can use it for another monitor unfortunately.

None of the FX CPUs have an onboard GPU. You can't have a video output of any type without a GPU to send it from. So no, unfortunately, no video from the USB type C on that mobo.

You need a graphics card to use that computer anyway, and you'd have to work extremely hard to find a graphics card on the market today that doesn't include at least one HDMI port. So just but one and use HDMI natively.
