[SOLVED] usb c to DP cable not working

so i bought a 144hz monitor (vg248) for my acer nitro 5 an515-52 laptop that only has a hdmi and usb c so i got a usb c to DP in order to get 144hz but my cable doesnt work and jus says display port no signal whenever i switch my monitors input
any ideas

Can confirm, the USB-C does not support anything other than USB 3.1 Gen 1 (from https://www.acer.com/ac/en/HK/content/model/NH.Q3LCF.008)

USB Type-C Detail: USB Type-C port: USB 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5 Gbps)

Just remember not every USB-C port supports everything. This is a massive flaw with the USB-C standard unfortunately.
