usb cam not showing in device manager

i have a usb webcam used to be working in my Desktop with no problems. yesterday when i plugged it in i a got a message says "USB not recognized" and was showing under universal serial bus controllers Tab as "unknown device".

so i re-plugged it and this time nothing is shown, imaging devices is not shown in device manager, not even "unknown device" anymore
have been trying since yesterday but nothing is happening.. also i made sure that my USB socket is working.

things i tried:
1- run troubleshooting
2- Add Legacy hardware
3- tried another usb socket

I'm using windows 7. is my webcam broken?, or there is something else i could try?

Could be very well that your webcam has died. Try it on another system to confirm it.
