So my USB card reader was USB2.0 and I plugged it in the USB 3.0 port on my case and it got burned. It doesn't work anymore and the SD card is dead too. How could this possibly happen?

My motherboard doesn't have USB 3.0 ports but it has a slot to connect a USB 3.0 port to the motherboard, if the USB 3.0 port on the case. I have properly installed the wire.

I've never heard on any motherboard having no rear io usb 3 ports but having a controller and external USB 3 connector on the board.

You sure that's actually a USB 3 connector you've plugged the case usb port into??

What are the system specs??

Cpu-z will tell you your motherboard model.

I'm not really a newbie. I built this PC myself.

The motherboard is Zebronics H61. Look at this model for reference:

Its odd that the usb 3.0 port is not in the second photo, so only look at the first photo, this one:

I will upload photo of my pc if necessary.

My case is ANT esports ICE 130 AG. It has a USB 3.0 connector (The big HDMI size wire.)
I put it in the motherboard without problems.

One thing is that when I connected my USB 3.0 HDD, it worked fine.
