You may just need to get an adapter like this https://www.amazon.com/CERRXIAN-Female-Connector-Converter-Adapter/dp/B01ABTHI7C?th=1 for USB C to USB 3 connections. That thing seems to have middling reviews so read though them to see if it's something you want to get.
