usb copying speed is extremely slow

when i connect a pendrive (any) to my pc
it establishes a connection very fast but the file copying speed on average is about 300kbps to 1mbps for some reason. I used to get about 20 -25 mbps


my pc specs

*intel core 2 duo @2.20 ghz
*3gb RAM
*Intel "D945GCNL" motherboard

It seems like you might need to update your USB drivers, you can check for them from Device Manager, or better yet, re-install them.
Go to Device Manager > Expand the USB controller drivers and right-click on each one and select Uninstall > Confirm Device Removal select Ok
Afterwards, you need to restart your system and Windows Updates should take care of the re-installation of the drivers. If you don't have them setup to update your system automatically, you might need to go and install the Driver Package manually.
